IACP University and College Police Section 2009 Scholarship Award Announced: Outstanding Candidates Selected
In May, 2009 the University & College Police Section of the IACP awarded three scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each. The recipients of the scholarship award are: Robert Haynes, University of Texas at Dallas; Jessica Williams, Scranton University; and Brandon Ackley, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. The Section’s Scholarship Committee selected these applicants for this recognition from the field applicants because of their outstanding academic efforts and commitment to community.
Robert Haynes is a senior criminal justice student at the University of Texas at Dallas. Robert began working for the Public Safety Department by joining the Student Officer Program in his freshmen year. Robert has volunteered at the UTD Police Department in several capacities including student patrol, Police Explorers, and as the CID investigative assistant. He excels academically and Robert has an overall GPA of 3.97 and a 4.0 GPA in criminal justice and consistently is named to the Dean’s List.
Jessica Williams is a junior criminal justice student at Scranton University with a 3.03 GPA. She is active in church activities and in the community helping to feed the homeless. She is in the Student Officer Program and holds the rank of corporal.
Brandon Ackley, a sophomore criminal justice major at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Brandon has volunteered at various community organizations while in high school and college. He works nearly full-time as a campus security officer and police communications officer. He has an earned overall GPA of 3.4
Members of the IACP University and College Police Section congratulate these three outstanding individuals (Robert Haynes, Jessica Williams, and Brandon Ackley) for their accomplishments on these awards and wish them continued success.
