2020 Leadership in Police Organizations (LPO) Partners Meeting
San Diego, CA | January 12 — 15
We are excited to announce that the 2020 IACP Leadership in Police Organizations (LPO) Partners Meeting will be held January 12 – 15 in sunny San Diego, California. This annual event is open to all IACP Leadership in Police Organizations (LPO) partner agencies and instructors, as well as those who are interested in learning more about the LPO program.
The IACP LPO Partners Meeting is a unique professional development experience that enhances attendees’ subject matter expertise in the field of leadership development. Topics of focus this year include Emotional Intelligence, Motivation through Job Design Theory, and Stress and Resilience. We encourage you to join your peers and colleagues as we analyze the science behind the LPO curriculum, apply new research to future program updates, and refine instructional skills.
For additional information and an overview of the event details, please review the 2020 IACP LPO Partners Meeting Agenda.
Additionally, we wanted to highlight two unique opportunities for your further involvement in this year’s program.
- In response to feedback from last year’s program, we have dedicated time during the 2020 LPO Partners Meeting to share and discuss LPO instructional best practices. Are there lessons or exercises you’d like more information on? Do you have a great exercise or instructional tip you use when you teach? Please complete this brief survey with recommendations. Your submissions will be considered for presentation during the LPO Instructional Tips and Tricks segment of the program. If selected, IACP staff will reach out via e-mail to coordinate a conversation regarding next steps. All feedback should be submitted by Friday, December 13.
- At this year’s event, we will be conducting a First-Line Leadership (FLL) Instructor Training Workshop for select individuals interested in becoming certified IACP FLL instructors. This training will take place during the afternoon of Wednesday, January 15 and morning of Thursday, January 16. Eligibility to participate is limited to those who are either local LPO instructors for their agencies or certified trainers of other leadership development programs. To be considered for this opportunity, please submit a resume / CV, highlighting your experience as a training instructor, to [email protected] no later than Friday, December 6. Accepted applicants will be notified via e-mail on Friday, December 13, so that final accommodations may be arranged for the 2020 IACP LPO Partners Meeting.
Lastly, do you have curriculum update and development ideas for the LPO course? Submit your ideas online here.
