Global Reach
International perspectives are vitally important to all law enforcement leaders and IACP helps facilitate the sharing of that perspective through a number of forums. Through relationships with other international organizations, the IACP's members turn to each other to answer questions of global relevance.
Global Policing
With more than 34,000 members in over 170 countries, the IACP has a vast global reach. IACP’s Global Initiatives are housed under the provision of the Global Policing Division. The Global Policing Division was established to provide a strategic plan for the international programs and activities of the IACP.
IACP’s global reach also includes the International Managers of Police Academy and College Training (IMPACT) Section, Trust Building Campaign, Cultural Transformation in Policing, and the International Road Policing Alliance (IRPA).

2024 Local Police of Castile and León Regional Congress – Ponferrada, Spain
From June 10-16, 2024, Vince Hawkes and President Carpenter attended the 2024 Local Police of Castile and León Regional Congress in Ponferrada, Spain. The conference brought together 200 police leaders within the Castile and León region to discuss challenges and promising practices regarding community police relations and regulatory frameworks. At the conference, IACP presented on current challenges faced by police in the U.S. and other democratic countries and participated in site visits throughout the region.
3rd Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety
Through IACP's work on the BIGRS initiative, IACP staff and executive leadership attended the World Conference on Road Safety in Stockholm, Sweden.
41st Annual ASEANAPOL Conference
The 41st Annual ASEANAPOL Conference took place in Vientiane, Laos from October 17-19, 2023. IACP Past President Steve Casstevens attended the conference on behalf of the IACP. During the event, Past President Casstevens engaged with police leaders from Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member countries on their policing priorities.
50th Annual Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP) Conference – Brisbane, Australia
In August 2023, IACP executive leadership attended the 50th Annual Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police Conference and Presidential Keynote Speech in Brisbane, Australia. The theme of the conference was “Cybercrime – Countering Child Exploitation”, which focused on the challenges and opportunities to strengthen law enforcement response to the threat of child exploitation within the Pacific.
ACCP Annual General Meeting and Conference
From May 22-26, 2023, President John Letteney, Vice President at Large James Hicks, and IACP staff attended the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP) 37th Annual General Meeting and Conference in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago. The IACP was represented in meetings and discussions at the event, and the IACP staffed an information booth in the exposition hall of the conference.
ACCP Annual Inter-Sessional Meeting
On December 6-7, 2023, members of IACP’s Global Policing team represented IACP at the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP) Annual Inter-sessional Meeting in Miami, FL.
AMERIPOL Annual Conference
The IACP President and the Director of IACP's Global Policing team attended AMERIPOL’s 2022 Annual Conference in Barranquilla, Colombia from April 7-8, 2022.
ANZPAA Conference and Presidential Visit
IACP President John Letteney and members of IACP’s senior leadership team traveled to Melbourne, Australia to participate in the 2022 ANZPAA Police Conference on November 8-9, 2022. The 2022 conference was centered on the theme of “Navigating the Next Generation of Policing.” While in Australia, President Letteney and the senior leadership team traveled to Canberra, Australia where they toured police facilities and met with representatives of the Australian Federal Police. The team also traveled to Sydney, Australia where they met with the executive leadership of the Australian Institute of Police Management.
Armenia Delegation Visit
On June 7, 2023, a group of five government officials from Armenia visited IACP headquarters through the Meridian Center’s Strengthening Law Enforcement Public Relations and Community Outreach project funded by the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program. While at IACP, the group heard presentations from Global Policing and Programs staff who provided an overview of local and federal policing, and discussed IACP’s global and domestic work around the topics of community-police engagement and community outreach.
ASAE Global Seminar
On September 28, 2022, members of IACP's Global Policing team attended a Global Seminar at the Singapore Embassy in Washington, D.C. conducted by ASAE.

New Global Tiered Dues Structure
Seeking to improve equity for all members, the IACP is announcing a revised tiered dues structure based upon the World Bank’s country economic groupings. The IACP is offering international membership rates to allow those from lower-income economies to have more affordable access to the benefits and resources provided by the IACP.
What does this mean for you? All IACP members will continue to receive invaluable benefits and resources however, international members from lower-income economies will now have more affordable access. Members from Tier I countries will continue to receive Police Chief magazine mailed to them. Members from Tiers II, III and IV will receive access to the translated digital version at a reduced fee. The new membership dues fee structure went into effect on January 1, 2023.
