We are pleased to announce the upcoming arrival of two progressive, thoughtful law enforcement leaders to the IACP’s senior staff leadership team in early 2015:

James (Jim) Baker joins IACP as the Director of Law Enforcement Operation and Support (LEOS). Jim brings to the IACP thirty-five years of law enforcement experience – with a career ranging from Chief of Police in Rutland, Vermont to Executive Director of the Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council to Colonel of Vermont State Police. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science from Southern Vermont College and is a graduate of the 188th Session of the FBI National Academy.

Hassan Aden joins IACP as the Director of Research, Programs and Professional Services (RPPS). Hassan Aden has been Chief of Police of the Greenville, North Carolina, Police Department since 2012, and was formerly Deputy Chief of Police for the Alexandria, Virginia, Police Department, where he served the community for twenty-five years. Hassan is a graduate of American University in Washington, D.C, where he holds a Master of Public Administration. He is a member of IACP, PERF, and serves as a Police Foundation Executive Fellow and as a Commissioner for CALEA.

The IACP has experienced a fair amount of change within the professional staff over the last few years. That change is not the result of any turmoil or crisis, just the natural course of an organization.

Such change happens in any long standing organization – it provides an opportunity to retool an organization steeped in history, yet with an eye to the future.

With that eye to the future, we are excited about Jim Baker and Hassan Aden’s respective arrivals – and what they bring to our members and the field.
