IACP Statement on the Fatal Shooting of Four Law Enforcement Officers in Charlotte, NC
The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) condemns the senseless act of violence that resulted in the fatal shootings of four members of a U.S. Marshals Task Force in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends, and colleagues of the fallen and wounded officers during this unimaginably difficult time. We stand in solidarity with all the agencies involved in this tragic event.
Police officers put their lives on the line every day to protect and serve their communities, and they deserve our utmost respect and gratitude. Attacks on police officers are attacks on the fabric of our society and cannot be tolerated. This cowardly attack not only strikes at the heart of policing but also threatens the safety and security of our communities.
In times of tragedy, it is imperative that we reaffirm our commitment to the rule of law and the values that bind us together as a society. Together, we will honor the memory of the fallen officers and ensure that their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
