The role of the committee is to strive to improve the relationship between the private sector and public sector by the discussion and dissemination of meaningful data on a continuing basis.

False Alarm Reduction Techniques and Use of Model Alarm Policies

Alarm systems are an excellent technology to help communities combat crime. While 85% of alarm users never have a false alarm, user error can result in false alarms being generated which results in unnecessary police response. This 6 minute video provides the viewer with the experiences of law enforcement executives who have used the Model Alarm Ordinance and techniques such as user registration, education and fines for repeated false alarms, to drive down their false alarm call volume. 

 

IACP/SIA Michael Shanahan Leadership in Public/Private Cooperation Award

This award, in honor of the late Chief Michael Shanahan, who served the University of Washington Police Department for 24 years, seeks to recognize outstanding achievements in the development and implementation of Public/Private Cooperation in the Public Safety. The Security Industry Association (SIA) is the sole corporate sponsor of the award, and the award is administered under the purview of the Private Sector Liaison Committee.
