Private Sector Liaison Section
The Private Sector Liaison Section actively promotes an increased executive law enforcement awareness of current issues facing the law enforcement profession and emphasizes the role of the private sector and public-private partnerships that address such topics.
The section shall actively promote, through dialog, research, education and training, an increased executive law enforcement awareness of current issues facing the law enforcement profession and particularly its executive leadership, and the role of the private sector and public-private partnerships that address such topics. In addition to law enforcement and the private sector, voluntary agencies, community, and faith-based organizations can all provide a valuable avenue for the collection and dissemination of such information.

Section Award
The IACP Michael Shanahan Leadership in Public/Private Cooperation Award, in honor of Chief Michael Shanahan (retired), who served the University of Washington Police Department for 24 years before retiring in 1995, seeks to recognize outstanding achievements in the development and implementation of Public/Private Cooperation in Public Safety.
